Multitalented television producer/director, Kenneth Shapiro possesses a diverse background spanning more than four decades and thousands hours of live, tape and film productions. He recently completed production on the 63rd Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration for PBS SoCal & KCET television and another season with the L.A Philharmonic. Kenneth also completed his first documentary film titled Great Voices Sing John Denver that won a Special Jury Award from the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and two awards from the 2014 Madrid International Film Festival.

 

2023 marks Kenneth’s twenty-sixth year directing the L.A. County Holiday Celebration and his twentieth time as producer for the program. His credits include an impressive cross section of programs such as The Academy Awards®, The Grammy Awards, The Golden Globes, Stand Up 2 Cancer, L.A. Philharmonic, America: A Tribute to Heroes, A&E in Concert: Sting in Tuscany...All This Time and American Music Awards as well as serving as a director for five years on the number-one CBS hit comedy series Everybody Loves Raymond

 

Kenneth is a five-time EMMY® Award winner for his work on the A&E in Concert: Sting – Inside the songs of Sacred Love, the Academy Awards® and the 54th, 60th, 62nd Annual LA County Holiday Celebrations. He has received over two dozen nominations including a LA Area EMMY® nominations for Live @ The Ford and the 49th, 50th, 51st, 59th, and 61st Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebrations. He has over a dozen Telly Awards and an Aurora Award for producing the national and local broadcasts of L.A. Holiday Celebration 2003-2022.

 

Kenneth directs live performances of the Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as special events such as The Little Mermaid In Concert, Beauty and the Beast In Concert, Nightmare Before Christmas In Concert, The Hollywood Bowl Opening Night Concert, and the live stage performances of The Producers, Hairspray, RENT, Guys and Dolls, Les Misérables and South Pacific. Kenneth has directed operas for the Los Angeles Opera's Recovering Voices project including Dulce Rosa, based on a short story by Isabel Allende, Alexander Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg (The Dwarf), Der zerbrochene Krug (The Broken Jug) and Die Vögel (The Birds). Additionally, Kenneth directs and produces a number of projects for the Los Angeles Opera Education and Community Programs branch including Concierto para Mendez, Figaro’s American Adventure, Tanis in America and The Prospector. He also has produced and directed charity events for the International Myeloma Foundation and Camp del Corazon. Well versed in graphic design, editing and state-of-the-art electronic effects, Kenneth designed opening montages and design elements for ten Academy Awards®  broadcasts and five American Music Awards
